Around Lima Miraflores District
This morning we discovered the harsh reality of trying to book a taxi in Lima - you must be very patient and prepare for the fact that due to traffic, your taxi may never arrive, and you must allow at least double the time estimated by Google to get to your destination. So we missed out on seeing Lima Centre and decided to explore Miraflores instead.
Lima is perched on a cliff, with some nice parks from which you can view the sea (through the fog).
Zoom in to see the surfers.
They like their cats in Lima, even providing cat hotels in the parks!
We came across a retrospective exhibition of a famous photographer
Some of his portraits tell a social history. We were particularly struck by the contrast here.
A contemporary portrait.
Walking along the street we spotted a band of troubadours. We guessed correctly that they were headed for Kennedy Park.
Tomorrow we have a flight to Cusco, and a transfer to Tambo del Inka in the Sacred Valley. Let the adventure begin!Kennedy Park is a hub for all things social. It has a small amphitheatre for dancing and small concerts, a playground, two plazas, a marketplace, artists displaying their wares, and the ubiquitous cats.

Wonderful pictures Mags and a great sense of the place . The taxi tale must have been tiring:(.

Well done Mags. I love the blog. It's like I was there myself. And yes, that guy is a ringer for Charlie Haughey. Keep up the fab updates.
